Managing Director
Snowy Makhudu is the Managing Director of Tholoana Sustainable Development & Environmental Consultants. As a Black woman owning 100% of the business, Snowy has been in environmental sector for 20 years and in environmental consultancy for 9 years. She has been involved at Senior & Executive Management level in Government and Private Sector. She also worked with communities in a consulting capacity as a Project Director/Advisor, including management of consultants’ contracts & Service Level Agreements. This includes development of:

  • State of Environment Reports
  • Environmental Management Frameworks;
  • Application for Environmental Authorisation;
  • Rectification of NEMA Section 24G;
  • Environmental Compliance Officer’s services;
  • Strategic EIA’s;
  • IWMP’s; Waste Minimisation Strategy – development and implementation;
  • Training of Senior Management on Integrated Environmental Management including Integrated Waste Management funding & financial models, Clean Development Mechanism projects;
  • Social facilitation and community survey;
  • Projects in Extended Public Works Programme, whilst in Local & Provincial Government.
As Lead Partner in the business Snowy Makhudu is tasked with Business Development and the strategic Public-Private Partners. She is a member of Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IWMSA); Board Chairperson for Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of  South Africa (EAPASA) and also Board Chairperson of Hand-in-Hand South Africa (HiHSA); Member in the Gauteng Branch - International Association of Impact Assessors (IAIA).
She is currently the National President of Women in Environment which was launched by Department of Environmental Affairs’ Deputy Minister in August 2010. In terms of Strategic Public Private Partnerships, she is involved in projects where sustainable development or project delivery is the key focus.
